1. What We Store
Alldan Chat is designed with privacy in mind. We store only the minimum data required to provide the service:
- Account details (email address and display name) — stored on our database to manage your account and authentication.
- Custom system prompt — if you choose to set one in Settings, it is stored on our database so it can be loaded every time you send a message. This is clearly noted in the Settings UI.
- Message count — we record the number of messages you send to measure usage. No message content or metadata is stored, only the count.
2. What Stays on Your Device
Your chat history is saved in your browser's local storage (localStorage) — not on our servers. This means:
- Conversations are only accessible from the device and browser where they were created.
- Clearing your browser data will remove your chat history.
- We cannot access, view, or recover your conversations.
- Private Mode conversations are never saved anywhere — not even in local storage.
3. Data Processing
When you send a message, it is transmitted to our AI provider (Crof) for processing. This is necessary to generate responses. We do not train AI models on your conversations, and your chat history is not used to improve or personalize the model.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Crof — AI inference provider that processes your messages to generate responses.
- SendGrid — Email delivery for password resets and email verification.
- Better Auth — Authentication provider that manages account creation, login, and session handling.
- Tavily — Web search provider used when you enable web research.
5. Cookies
We use essential authentication cookies to keep you signed in. These are strictly necessary for the service to function and are not used for tracking or advertising.
6. Data Retention
Account information is retained until you delete your account. Chat history stored in your browser's localStorage is retained until you clear it. You can delete individual chats or all your data at any time.
